Every Student Counts!
Improving inclusive education services for students with learning difficulties. A project carried out by the Association of Academicians (Akademisyenler Birliği Derneği, founded in 1993) in Ankara, Türkiye.
About the project
The project aimed to improve the quality of education for primary school children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. It worked with three groups: parents, primary school teachers and school administrators in the Sincan and Pursaklar districts of Ankara.
The project had one overall objective and three specific objectives: raising the awareness of teachers, parents and school administrators; building the capacity of teachers through training; and preparing teaching materials for teachers of students with learning difficulties.
What we did
- 7 awareness seminars for parents, teachers and school administrators (6 were planned)
- 7 three-day capacity-building trainings for primary school teachers (4 were planned)
- a handbook on specific learning difficulties and three books of inclusive teaching strategies for reading, writing and mathematics
- a public service announcement and an awareness campaign with 20 posters
- a closing conference that completed the project
